The Most Popular Coffees for Drip and Espresso

A very common question we are asked at the shop and farmers market is "What is your most popular coffee?" Well, that depends a lot on how you plan to brew the coffee. Here are the two most popular coffees for the most popular brew methods we see with our customers at our shop: drip and espresso.

Drip

For drip brew methods, our top coffees are dark roasted Honduras and medium roasted Ethiopia coffees.

Our dark Honduras offers bold rich chocolate notes, low acidity and a clean comforting finish. It has been a long time number one seller for us and our go to when recommending a coffee for dark roast, especially for those being introduced to Cloudland Coffee for the first time.

With the espresso brew method, many of our customers use the Breville espresso machines. These are great machines that produce an exceptional espresso and are priced at relatively affordable price. The two most popular Cloudland Coffee options for espresso that work great with the Breville are the Espresso Blend and the Sumatra.

The Espresso Blend is the darker of the two varieties. It's a Peruvian coffee that is roasted just as 2nd crack  begins. The is the point where the oils from the coffee slowly start to emerge from the coffee. We pull our roast right at the beginning of 2nd crack to help deter the oils from coming out too fast. This helps to curb the bitterness in the Espresso Blend.

The Sumatra is also popular for espresso, especially for those who like a lighter tasting espresso but without the sour notes that many lighter/medium roasted coffees tend to have.

Both coffees are used at our shop and at many of our wholesale partners for their espresso drinks.
