Roastery & Cafe Operations Assistant
Do you currently have coffee experience? Do you want to go from being a barista to more into the operations and coffee roasting part of the coffee business? The Coffee Operations Assistant is responsible for helping the owner manage and oversee the day-to-day operations amongst our location, our coffee roasting operations and online fulfillment; maintaining all standard operating procedures and fostering a positive working environment. Candidates should possess an entrepreneurial spirit, while maintaining a strong representation of community and brand awareness. The Coffee Operations Assistant should be someone with a passion for excellence, detail oriented, operations focused, hands-on management style, great organizational skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports the owner on all operational activities including the coffee roasting, inventory management, procurement, shipping and cafe operations
- Actively assists in managing cafe/roastery facility including online orders and wholesale program
- Maintain cafe and roastery records
- Maintain blend recipes, roast profiles, and all required parameters
- Assist with menu development and implementation
- Ensure the café is consistently meeting or exceeding the highest standards of quality in every drink and food item served
- Adhering to all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to: opening and closing procedures, and POS procedures
- Help to organize and lead the Alpharetta Farmers market during the market season as well as any coffee-based community or educational events, held within or outside of the store
- Be knowledgeable on all products offered, including coffee rotations, origins, and attributes.
- Be knowledgeable in allergens
- Work with owner to maintain company-wide strategies
- Identifies all staffing and training needs, and assists with the hiring process
- Maintains a working knowledge of all applicable brand standards
- Maintains and supports a clean and safe working environment for all team members
- Uses judgment and discretion to resolve less routine questions and problems and refers more complex issues to higher levels
- Ensures all team members provide hospitable and exemplary service that exceed our guests’ expectations and creates an experience for all who come through the front door
- Ensures that all recipes and procedures are adhered to consistently and at the highest quality along with all “grab and go” retail items
- Have a positive, engaging attitude with customers, especially during times of high-volume
Qualifications:
- Must have reliable transportation
- Have or must obtain Serv-Safe Certification within 60 days
- 2 years multi-unit retail, café, restaurant, or coffee shop experience
- Well-organized, detailed oriented, and able to multi-task
- Must have open availability including Saturdays and special events as needed. Must be available for opening and closing approximately 6:30 am - 3:30pm
- Proficient on a computer; familiar with software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs, Google Drive
- Must have effective problem solving/decision-making abilities
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Physical Demands:
Frequent standing and movement of product throughout the day by physically lifting, up to 50lbs
Hours:
30-40 hours per week
